South Africa - The latest hike of 8.1 percent in excise duties on natural wine and 8.9 percent on spirits will force producers out of the industry - which contributes 2.2 percent to local gross domestic product (GDP) - and cause many farm workers to lose their jobs, according to Paiter Botha, the financial manager of Vinpro, the umbrella body representing producers.
