AU - In the mostly sandy soils along the River Murray from Griffith to Blanchetown, the dead and dying vineyards stand out like decaying teeth in a black-toothed smile.
These are the regions that have felt the brunt of a massive oversupply of grapes, and an under-selling of Australian wine. The price of grapes dropped 30 per cent last year, and by the same amount again this year. The industry is now suggesting all producers consider if they are viable, and if not, leave the business to those who are.
