Swiss residents drank less wine in 2009, a year marked by economic recession.Overall consumption in Switzerland dropped by 0.9 percent to 2,757 million hectolitres last year, 26,410 hectolitres less than in 2008, the federal agriculture department said on Tuesday.The amount of Swiss wine imbibed fell by 4.5 percent to 1,03 million hectolitres, while consumption of foreign vintages rose 3.4 percent to 1.73 million hectolitres.The decline in Swiss wine consumption followed two years of increases, the agriculture department said.
