Wine shipments by California wineries to the rest of the nation were up an extremely “modest” 0.2 percent last year, while the value of those shipments fell 3 percent, the Wine Institute said Thursday, “as consumers traded down to lower-priced wines.”The San Francisco-based Wine Institute represents about 1,000 wineries and other wine trade entities in the Golden State. California wine shipments to all markets, including those in the United States and abroad, fell 1.2 percent last year, to 237 million cases.
