NEW ZEALAND: Accolade Wines closes Mud House Wine Group buy
Apr 1, 2014 6(Just-Drinks) - Accolade Wines has completed its purchase of a range of New Zealand wine brands from Mud House Wine Group.
The transaction, initially announced in November, sees Accolade take control of the Mud House, Waipara Hills, Dusky Sounds, Haymaker and Skyleaf brands, the firm said earlier today (1 April). Financial details behind the transaction, which has received clearance from New Zealand’s Overseas Investment Office, were not disclosed.
“These brands … cover varietals from key regions such as Marlborough for Sauvignon Blanc, Central Otago for Pinot Noir and aromatics from the Waipara Valley including Riesling and Pinot Gris,” said Accolade's UK & Ireland GM, Paul Schaafsma.
“We have also secured long-term lease arrangements on over 400 hectares of vineyards in important regions to supply the brands, and as well as an ongoing processing contract we have also taken on all existing grower-supply contracts.”
The GM of Mud House's New Zealand team, MJ Loza, will move across to head Accolade Wines New Zealand.
