St. Supery Estate Announces Partnership with Michel Rolland
Aug 26, 2013 6(PRWEB) - St. Supéry Estate Vineyards & Winery has hired world-renowned wine consultant, Michel Rolland, to work with their vineyard and winemaking teams. Robert Skalli, third generation vintner and owner of St. Supéry Estate, stated, “Michel has been a very good friend for many years and is one of the best winemakers in Europe. We are very happy to have him once again bring his Bordeaux experience to Napa Valley to help us make the very best wine we can.”
Rolland has more than forty years of winemaking experience and has worked with hundreds of clients around the world. As stated by Emma Swain, CEO, “Rolland has one of the best palates in the world, he works with some of the best wineries across the globe and he experiments with more new methodologies than virtually any other winemaker today.” Swain went on to say, “We are excited to apply Rolland’s encyclopedic knowledge of viticulture and oenology to our own winemaking practices.”
Over the last four years, St. Supéry Estate invested with a target toward exceptional wines with focused vineyard strategies. This included improving their winemaking facility and vineyard management practices by purchasing double hand sorting equipment and small lot open top fermenters that are used for their single vineyard wines, while more recently adding optical sorting to the balance of the estate red wines. VP Winemaker Michael Scholz and VP of Vineyard Management Josh Anstey refined vineyard practices, incorporating more precise management of grapevine yields for correct sun exposure and color and more accurate tests for phenological ripeness.
