Plans call for a winery, production and warehouse facility on Cordelia Road, south of Fairfield, Caymus Vineyards said July 1. If plans are approved by local officials, Caymus plnas to build the new facilities in stages by 2016 or 2017.
The Wagner family, which owns the winery, plans to continue producing its Caymus Cabernets in Napa, while using the new site to expand production of its Meiomi, Mer Soleil, Connundrum and Belle Glos brands.
The highly regarded winery believes the move is part of its 40-year evolution, said Chuck Wagner, one of several children of founder Charlie Wagner working in the family business. He said the expansion into Solano County would help remove traffic from the Napa Valley "to a location with the infrastructure in place to accommodate our production."
