US: New marketing push for Niagara Wine Trail
Jun 14, 2013 6(BizJournals) - The Niagara Wine Trail will see a rebranding tied to an eastern expansion, thanks to state legislation passed Thursday.
The legislation, passed by both the Assembly and the Senate, redesignates and reconfigures the Niagara Escarpment Wine Trail to the Niagara Wine Trail Ridge, while the Niagara Wine Trail becomes the Niagara Wine Trail Lake.
Both trails wind through Niagara County, but the legislation allows for an eastern expansion into Orleans and Monroe counties, helping to draw new attention to the trail and attracting additional visitors.
According to Assemblyman John Ceretto, R,C,I-Lewiston, who cosponsored the bill, the legislation will improve tourism in the region by allowing new wineries to join.
“The Niagara Wine Trail has been a great attraction for tourists and a major boost to our numerous local wineries,” he said Ceretto. “By expanding eastward and re-branding the wine trail, we can attract tourists and new wineries while boosting those currently in existence. The wine trail has been great for the local economy of Niagara County, and this expansion can make it even better.”
The Niagara Wine Trail Ridge will now stretch from Route 104 in the City of Niagara Falls east to Route 390 in Monroe County; with the new boundaries for the Niagara Wine Trail Lake extending from Route 18/Lake Road from Route 104 east to Route 390.
