Russia: Georgian Wine Gets Seal of Approval
May 28, 2013 6(TheMoscowTimes) - Over 100 types of Georgian wine and mineral water have been granted state registration in Russia, the Federal Consumer Protection Service said Tuesday.
Nineteen producers of alcoholic beverages and two manufacturers of mineral water had submitted 245 applications for state registration, Interfax reported.
Last week Russia's Sanitary Service refused to register three types of wine and five types of brandy produced by Georgian companies because they failed to meet the necessary requirements.
The supply of Borjomi mineral to Russia has resumed following a six-year hiatus, IDS Borjomi Georgia CEO Zaza Kikvadze said Monday.
Russia's Federal Consumer Protection Service ordered a ban on the import of Georgian wine, mineral water and other products in 2006 due to tense relations between the two countries, citing consumer safety concerns.
