Getaway: A Big Gulp Of Cool In California Wine Country: Andaz Napa
Apr 8, 2013 6(Forbes) - In a few short years, Hyatt’s upstart Andaz brand has nailed the urban hotel: sociable, sensible, and full of smart luxuries like free minibars and multifunctional furnishings instead of silly ones like gilded taps and bath butlers. Its city outposts combine a maximum of conviviality and a minimum of fuss, plus a fairly reasonable price in otherwise expensive cities. That’s one reason they appeal to business and leisure travelers alike.
So I was interested to learn that Andaz has started its move into what I think of as vacation cities, like Napa and Savannah, and has plans to soon open full-fledged resorts in places like Maui. I was curious about how the formula would translate into more relaxed, leisurely settings.
