(SeattleTimes) - The state House has passed a proposal that would allow students under age 21 to taste wine in college classes.
The measure was approved on a 94-3 vote Friday night and now heads to the Senate.
Currently, students who are enrolled in a viticulture or enology degree program can't taste wine as part of their course work.
The measure passed Friday creates a special permit for colleges, universities, community colleges and vocational schools to allow students under 21 enrolled in such programs to taste, but not ingest, wine as part of their studies.
