(DailyPress) - Where is the best place to grow grapes and make wine? The answer to that question is simply: LOCATION, LOCATION , LOCATION!
You will find that most if not all wine grapes are grown in temperate climates where it isn’t too hot or too cold. Most grape varietals prefer cool climates that you will find primarily between the 40th and 50th parallels (30-50 degrees North) and the 30th and 50th parallels (30-50 degrees South).
If you look at a map, you will see that these two regions include portions of North America, Germany, Spain and France and even parts of China. In the southern hemisphere, this favorable grape growing region includes parts of Chile and Argentina. If you proceed across the ocean, it encompasses South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. These are the most likely regions of the world where grapes will grow well and you will find world class wines.
