(Syracuse) - Cornell University scientists spent years researching and breeding grapes to come up with two new varieties to make wine with. That's an important viticultural (wine grape-related) project.
Then they spent the last few months asking people to help them name the grapes. That's not exactly an important research project, but it is likely to create some buzz around the new grapes.
Bruce Reisch, professor of horticulture in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, will introduce the grapes -- and their names -- after 10 a.m. today during the Viticulture 2013 conference in Rochester. (We'll update this post when we have the names)
