(TheStar) - A proposed move by Nova Scotia to allow consumers to import wine from other parts of Canada could help nudge Ontario in the same direction, wine industry experts say.
As more provinces lift prohibitions on wine importation, others will consider reciprocating, said Aaron Goertzen, economist at BMO Capital Markets.
“By and large, Canadians expect fairly similar treatment from their provincial governments. It would be pretty hard to justify such different rules between provinces,” he said.
“Anytime you start to dismantle trade barriers, there’s a positive for consumers, increased choice and competition.”
