US: Eastern Wine Industry Meets in Michigan

(Wines&Vines) - Larry Mawby, owner of L. Mawby Vineyards-Winery in Suttons Bay, Mich., and self-proclaimed “local guy” on the program for the International Symposium on Sparkling Wine Production, welcomed attendees to “the heart of winemaking in North America” last week. While many in the wine industry may not realize there is a wine industry in Northern Michigan, from July 16-19 it could be argued that the center of the eastern wine industry was located in Traverse City, Mich.
