(Express) - THE SNP’s plans to hike up the price of alcohol face chaos after it emerged wine may be exempt from minimum pricing laws.
European rules mean that wine is classed as an “agricultural product” under the Common Agricultural Policy and is protected by a series of strict trade laws.
It comes after trade body Comite Europeen des Enterprises Vins (CEEV) teamed up with the Scotch Whisky Association to take the fight against the 50p per unit minimum price to the European Commission and the Court of Session.
