US: Eliminating Nematodes and Fanleaf Virus

(Wines&Vines) - The Napa Valley Grapegrowers invited local viticulturists and experts from the University of California, Davis, to discuss two serious root pests—fan leaf virus and nematodes—as part of the Sustainable Vineyard Practices series. One speaker also discussed how phylloxera, drought and salinity affect vineyards. Managing nematodes Dr. Howard Ferris is a professor in the Department of Entomology and Nematology at UC Davis. He discussed the nematodes that attack California grapevines, with a special emphasis on those in the North Coast region; different nematodes occur in various regions of California.
