(TheAustralian) - WINE regions around Australia are seeing a surge in Chinese visitors carrying open chequebooks.
The growing popularity of our plonk in China is luring increasing numbers of investors seeking to cash in on a booming market and capture some of the romance of the industry.
China is Australia's fastest-growing wine export market, surging 23 per cent to $211 million over the 12 months to the end of March, up from just $6m in 2004. It is now our third-largest export customer in value terms.
