(BizJournals) - Oregon wine grape production rose 33 percent to hit a record high of 41,500 tons in 2011 as demand slowly returns to a recession-battered industry.
The value of Oregon’s grape harvest climbed nearly 30 percent in 2011, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service’s annual Oregon Vineyard Report. The report released Monday excluded wineries from its scope in 2011 as a cost-cutting measure.
The report notes that planted acres dropped by 100 acres, to 20,400 acres in total.
