(ChicagoBusiness) - City Winery, the Manhattan restaurant, micro-winery and music venue that aims to open its Chicago outpost in August, tapped into its new space this week.
Owner Michael Dorf "broke ground" on the West Loop site, a former food distribution warehouse at 1200 W. Randolph St.
(Previously, Mr. Dorf wanted to go into the Loop landmark Carson Pirie Scott building at 1 S. State St., but that plan was nixed when Target Corp. decided to increase the size of the store it's planning to open in the building this July.)
He's excited about his West Loop location, calling the nixed Loop plan "the biggest blessing in retrospect."
