Georgia plans to up wine export by 10.5% in 2012

(KievPost) - Georgia plans to export at least 12 million 0.75-liter bottles of wine in 2012, Deputy Agriculture Minister Iya Janashia said at a news conference on March 16. Georgia exported 19 million bottles of wine in 2011, which was 30.1% more than in 2010, Janashia said. Thus, wine export in 2012 could grow by 10.5%. As of March 15, 2012, Georgia exported 2,788,200 bottles of wine, which is 8.5% more than in the same period in 2011, Janashia said. She mentioned Poland, China, Latvia, Estonia, the U.S., Canada, Germany, Turkey, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the Czech Republic as the most promising markets for Georgian wine exports.
