(Seattletimes) - Washington State University President Elson Floyd thanked the state’s grape growers and wine makers Wednesday for a $7.4 million contribution to support a new wine science center at WSU.
The state’s wine industry agreed last year to support the center through assessments levied on grape and wine production, starting with the 2011 harvest. The amount will be collected over the next decade.
More than 30 WSU faculty members are involved in wine research and education. The university also offers a viticulture and enology major at its Pullman and Tri-Cities campuses; 50 students are enrolled
