US: Winery job postings up sharply in 2011

(Napavalleyregister) - Finding a job in the wine industry should have gotten a little bit easier in 2011. The number of wine jobs posted on an industry job site rose 18 percent from 2010 to 2011, WineJobs.com reported.
WineJobs.com, which serves the Napa Valley as part of its national reach, said the 2011 number was 57 percent higher than the index for 2009, according to the site.
The 2011 increase in job postings was driven by gains in the three main job categories: winemaking, sales and marketing and hospitality.
“It’s consistent with what I’m seeing,” said Bruce Wilson, director of the Napa County Workforce Investment Board. When comparing 2011 to 2010, “the wine industry has seen better numbers from a job standpoint, which also pulls other industries up in general,” he said.
