(Miamiherald) - She wasn’t just shedding tears over the loss of her eyesight at age 27. After an herbalist put her on a detox diet, she also mourned the loss of family meals.
“I cried every night at dinner,” Elman says.
To distract her, her stepfather put glasses of wine in front of her and asked her to analyze them: Varietal. Vintage. Climate. Composition of soil. How much sun did the grapes get?
Normally, this exercise is done blindfolded, but as diabetes stole her sight, that wasn’t necessary.
