(WineSpectator) - Wineries are adding "smart" tags to bottles, but will digital marketing sell more wine? It's hard to judge the quality of a wine by its front label, but that's how many people buy their bottles. Sure, they might glance at the back label, but wineries can't squeeze much helpful information into that space. Thanks to technology, however, wineries have a new option—QR codes.
A growing number of producers are turning to the small QR (short for Quick Response) codes, which customers can scan with a smartphone to find links to websites with information about what's in the bottle
