Change to old wine law may benefit B.C. wineries

A move by Ontario to soften enforcement of an antiquated liquor law that makes it a crime to transport wine across a provincial border is being viewed by the British Columbia wine industry as the first step to changing a law that is hurting wine tourism in this province.
“The Ontario move is the first step, indicating to us, anyway, that there is going to be some movement on it [in B.C.],” Miles Prodan, executive director of the B.C. Wine Institute, said of a policy change that the Liquor Control Board of Ontario quietly posted on its website recently
