VANCOUVER - British Columbia’s grape growers are among those who stand to benefit from a new international study headed by Simon Fraser University political scientist Andy Hira that is probing what makes global wine industries successful.
“It’s clear that the B.C. wine industry is a major success and that everything has been going very well for the industry. But the intent of the [study] was not to celebrate all the successes but to say, that, ‘Look, there are some weak points here and if several of the conditions that are holding up the industry change then the industry would have to have major adaptations,’” Hira said in an interview earlier this month.
