Auction Napa Valley gets off to a splashy start

The rain held off and the cloudy skies yielded an unexpected bonus at Friday’s wine auction marketplace and barrel auction.
With 100 wineries pouring barrel samples and another 120 pouring tastings, the vaunted Napa red wines took on an appeal they might not have had on a more typical hot and sunny June day.
“It’s great red wine weather,” said winemaker Jeff McBride.
