Better check that bottle of pricey Italian wine sitting in your cellar — it could actually be some cheap plonk.
York Regional Police have launched an investigation after the LCBO discovered several bottles of fake Amarone, a highly-praised style of wine made from partly-dried grapes.
Fake bottles of the 2006 Negrar Amarone Classico were discovered after being returned to the LCBO by customers seeking refunds. Alert staff noticed the bottles looked slightly different than legitimate versions.
