SALEM, Ore. -- Legislation sponsored by Rep. Kevin Cameron of Salem is calling for creation of a wine country themed license plate.
Similar to the Crater Lake, salmon and cultural trust plates, drivers would pay an extra fee for the special plates.
Money raised from sale of the plates would be used for projects in Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties and would also be used to support tourism.
The Oregon wine industry now has more than 800 wineries and employs 8,500 workers.
