California vintners consider producing sweet wine

Sweet wines may be a new revenue stream for Central Valley wineries and grape growers as consumer desire for easy-to-drink libations isn't being met by the current stable of dry chardonnays, cabernets and merlots.
"We haven't been having an honest conversation about sweetness and what people like," says wine consultant Doug Frost. "We've acted like sweet wine is what a beginner starts with and then you graduate to dry wines."
