In a turnabout of the Cana miracle from the Gospel of St. John, a group of University of Washington engineering students is seeking to transform wine into water.
Vintages from the Palouse, Nota Bene and Adytum wineries will be poured Monday night in a UW Engineers Without Borders fundraiser to support potable water projects in remote Andes villages in Bolivia.
Members of the UW chapter will also be working to install new stoves and corrugated roofs in village huts, so as to rid the huts of pervasive wood smoke that causes respiratory diseases.
