A national grape growers body says the Hunter is in a good position compared to other wine producing regions, despite the current poor market conditions.
The Wine Grape Growers of Australia group is urging winemakers around the country to work with the industry to address the long standing over-supply of grapes.
The group says the resulting low prices is sending the industry broke.
Vic Patrick from Grape Growers says the regions who have sizeable domestic markets and enjoy wine tourism have an advantage over other areas
