Local winery's bold experiment: boxed vino

Promoting its new packaging as keeping its product fresher longer and customers costs lower, Albemarle County-based Virginia Wineworks this week will debut the state industry’s first wine bagged in a box for retail sale. Virginia Wineworks, based in the old Montdomaine Winery near Keane, will market its chardonnay and cabernet franc in 3-liter bags inside a box. The wines will sell for about $30 to $35 a box,
