Virginia wine distribution gets new online ordering system

Va. (AP) — Restaurants and retailers wanting Virginia wine have a new system to place orders.The state Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services said Wednesday the online ordering system is for the Virginia Winery Distribution Company. The nonprofit was created by the General Assembly in 2007 to give Virginia wineries and farm wineries an alternative to using independent wine wholesalers.
The new web-based system allows Virginia farm wineries to list and describe their available wines. Then, restaurants and retailers can place their orders quickly and efficiently through the interactive site.
