According to FOURGREEN Wine Company, the major pollution in the wine industry comes from the manufacture of glass bottles. New eco-packaging has begun to replace traditional glass bottles on United States store shelves. The new packages stay fresh for 6-8 weeks after opening, reduce trash going into local garbage dumps by 80% and cuts toxic gas emissions by 50% compared to traditional bottles. Up until now, the new packaging has been reserved for cheaper wines. But for the first time, high end premium California wines are now being marketed by FOURGREEN Wine Company in a 3L tube under the brand name “FOUR”. Each tube holds the equivalent of 4 regular 750 ml bottles.
