The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office has launched a wine web page intended to lure more Bay Area, California and U.S. wineries to export their wares to the famed Chinese seaport metropolis. The site, created by the trade office's San Francisco outpost, is part of the group’s broader website.
Since Hong Kong eliminated wine duties in February 2008, officials said Thursday, wine imports there have soared. In the first nine months of 2010, they’ve “surged” to $600 million, and Hong Kong-based wine auction sales year-to-date of about $120 million have doubled 2009’s full-year tally, the statement said.
