Nearly 1,000 enter Wine Country Marathon

Running was not a solo sport for the 947 people who leaped into action just after sunrise Sunday and paced their way through Dry Creek Valley for the Wine Country Marathon.
Saundra Small-Stampo, 48, of Palo Alto completed her third half marathon holding her 29-year-old son's hand as she pushed through the last few yards.
“I'm just trying to give her strength,” said her son Martin Simon of Palo Alto.
