The Liv-Ex Fine Wine 100 Index has soared by 27 per cent this year as investors flock to the alternative tax-efficient asset class.The index, which represents the 100 most sought-after fine wines, mainly from Bordeaux, is also up a whopping 47 per cent since the end of 2008.
With savers getting poor returns, investing in wine has become more popular and according to law firm Boodle Hatfield, demand for the 2009 Bordeaux is strong with bottles of Lafite selling for more than £800 a bottle.
