Liquor and wine price hikes are on the horizon thanks to a decision by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. While the board is not directly raising prices on products, it will start charging higher handling fees Jan. 4 to wine and spirits wholesalers. Those suppliers could in turn pass the price increases onto consumers and restaurants. Handling fees will go up 35 cents, to $1.15, depending on the size of the bottle. Fifths and half-gallon fees will rise 75 cents and three liter bottles of wine by $1.15.
