ALBANY -- Groups involved in the fights over allowing grocery stores to sell wine and implementing a state tax on sugared beverages poured a whopping $1 million or more in state campaigns over the last six months, campaign-finance records show. The flow of money from special-interest groups, mainly from opponents of the measures, has had success so far: Both proposals have been shelved by the Legislature despite heavy lobbying by Gov. David Paterson for their passage.
