In another example of wine industry cost cutting efforts, Jackson Family Wines is relocating production of Arrowood wines from the original Glen Ellen winery to another facility in Oakville.The Arrowood tasting room will remain open.
“It's just reactionary to the recession,” said Kelly Keagy, a spokeswoman for the company. The move allows Jackson to further consolidate production and reduce expenses, she said.
The company will lay off eight employees but will retain recently promoted winemaker Heidi von der Mehden to work in Oakville.
