The conversation about carbon footprints began to get clearer during the London Wine Trade Fair as O-I, the world’s largest maker of glass packaging, released the results of a new global study of the complete life cycle of glass containers.
The life cycle assessment (LCA) measured carbon emissions generated by each phase in the life cycle of a glass container. Past studies (and current studies for other packaging materials) have only addressed parts of the life cycle, with a common tendency to focus only on the best, greenest parts.
