B.C. - Research funding totaling more than CAD$2 million will flow to the British Columbia wine industry from the federal government under a program designed to support innovation in the agriculture sector.Coupled with CAD $700,000 from industry, the funding from Canada’s federally sponsored Developing Innovative Agri-Products program will inject $2.8 million into B.C. wine research. Projects supported by the funding must be complete by March 31, 2013. “It is very important, and right now the matching conditions are fairly good: It’s 25%-75% matching industry-government money,” said Hans Buchler, a grower in Oliver, B.C., and chair of the British Columbia Wine Grape Council.
