Description
Tannat is a rare red grape, probably Basque in origin, principally grown in the Madiran region of France (Pyrenees foothlls) and in Uruguay. It is now also grown in California, where it produces a full-bodied, intensely colored, ruby red wine, wonderfully flavorsome, with highlights of spice, plums, ripe berries and smoke.

Wine Notes
We are fascinated by the Tannat grape, in part because it produces such wonderful concentrated, inky reds, and in part because it so relatively unknown outside of the Madiran region of France. Tannat is also grown in Uruguay, where it is their "flagship" red grape. We got our Tannat from Silvaspoon Vineyards, located in Galt, California, and it has produced a wonderfully flavorsome, full-bodied wine with highlights of spice, plums, ripe berries, and smoke.

Tasting Notes
This is a big, rich red wine great with game, sausages, roasted meats, and strong aged cheeses.

Rating a wine is not for experts alone. This skill can be developed by anyone with enough practice and exposure and it starts with understanding the elements in winemaking, tasting and rating. There are basically 4 areas where wines are rated. These are appearance, aroma, taste and after taste.Post your review now!
